Year 11 start the netball season with 3 wins

A fantastic turn out tonight from the year 11 netball team. The girls had their first league night of the year.

Three games in one evening with all results going towards the league title at the end of the year. The first game was against Trinity, where the girls with some fantastic interceptions from the defensive unit of Hannah Bale, Katie Cummings and Jodie Rigg saw the team leap ahead to a 16-6 victory.

The second game the girls took on Aylesford which gave the shooters (Marie Pavey, Hope Aris and Amy Carro) a chance to shine with a 12-1 victory. Jodie Stevens (Capt) and Alice Coles as usual gave a solid performance in centre court to ensure Aylesford had minimal attempts on target.

The final game was a tough match against a well drilled Kings High team. At half time the score was all level at 4-4, however Jodie S stepped up to the mark with some fantastic feeds into the circle to Marie which saw them finally sneak ahead to an 11-8 victory.

Girls you played excellent tonight you should be really proud of yourself, well done.

Congratulations Joe

Dear Joe, what a fantastic combination of effort and talent. A true example of a ‘need to achieve ‘ mind set we discussed in assembly. I am formally requesting my Ryder cup tickets now!

All the best Mr Elkerton ( a former 15 handicapper on the way up!)

Year 11 Football

Southam v Campion

The Year 11’s kicked off their last season with a thumping 8-1 victory over Campion. They were on top throughout the match and after a few gilt-edged chances managed to find the back of the net. Campion carried a threat, and could have equalised a couple of times, but we managed to put away a couple more chances to go in 3-0 up.

Focusing on maintaining concentration and intensity levels at the start of the second half, we wrestled back control of the midfield after a strong start by Campion, and extend our lead with goals from Riley Birch and Tommy Driscoll.

Hoping to keep a ‘clean sheet’ Oz Kee made a string of fine saves to keep Campion at bay, but they did finally manage to break their duck following some lacklustre defending. We had already made the game safe by then and tucked away a few more goals before the final whistle. Congratulations to the whole team for a solid performance and a great start to the season. Man of the match for his 4 goals was Riley Birch.
