Year 11 Football

Southam v Kineton

The Yr 11 football team racked up another convincing win with an 8-2 victory at home against Kineton.

Hoping to build on a good win from our last outing, we didn’t start with the quality of football that we are capable of, making too many unforced errors and giving to ball away cheaply. With Kineton growing into the game, we managed to settle any nerves with 2 well taken goals from Riley Birch. Our own worst enemy, we gifted Kineton a goal giving them a way back into the game. Fortunately the 2 goal cushion was restored before half-time by Owen Kennedy, and we didn’t look back from then on.

Our passing and movement improved after the break, and with Kineton tiring, our industry and pace fashioned out many more opportunities. Further goals from Birch and Kennedy, a brace from Josh Thomas and a penalty from the hefty boot of Goal-keeper Oz Kee, secured a comfortable win and the team await their next opponents with anticipation.

Man of the Match – Josh Thomas.
