Girls Football Team march on to the Finals!

Well done to the Year 8 & Year 9 Girls Football Team who convincingly won their County Cup Semi-Finals against Avon Valley School 7-3 to march on to their first finals.

Southam dominated the possession in the first half and, despite some determined defending from Avon Valley, eventually broke the deadlock with goals from Shuana O’Neill and Maria Timms. It was 4-0 at the break, but we didn’t sit back and continued to pile on the pressure, Maria Timms adding more goals to our total. Lydia Crompton was pulling the strings in the midfield, with Aoife Williams providing a constant threat down the wings and determined defending from Carley Lucas and Kacie Morby keeping the opposition at bay.

It was only after we had gone down to 10 players that Avon Valley got their goals, but these were well deserved fro their determined performance. However the result was never in doubt and we can look forward to the finals.
