We had a great turn out from our Cross-country runners on a windy Saturday morning over a testing, undulating course.
Leading the way were our Yr7 Girls team with a 1-2 from Emily Lovett and Issie Fairhurst. Making up the scoring team were Emily Lovett in 6th and Sarah Costa in 12th. Georgia Eversden also ran really well in the tricky conditions coming home in 14th place.
The girls were a tough act to follow, but the boys did their best and put in some gutsy performances, lead home by Dylan Wilson in 7th and Josh Farrell in 8th. Charlie Parsons was 12th and Joseph Allanson 15th and Joe Quinney 16th.
The Yr 8 & 9 girls were in a dominant position earlier on, but unfortunately Larissa Hurt suffered from abdominal cramps and had to drop out. Her sister, Georgina took up the reins and ran brilliantly well to push all the way and finish in 2nd place. Alice Parsons was our second scorer in a very respectable 5th. The rest of the girls ran very well as a team an their positions were: Cerys James – 12th, Carly Lucas – 14th, Lydia Compton – 15th, Jess Hunt – 16th and Amelie Savin – 17th.
Our Yr 8 & 9 boys team were missing a couple of runners, but were lead home by Will Eadon, in a promising 2nd in his come back run, and the fast improving Marley Brougham in 3rd. Our Yr 8 boys made up the rest of the team, with Jacob Watson finishing 11th, and Ed Lockley just holding off Jack Collins in 15th and 16th.
Unfortunately we had no U16 girls, a factor that cost us in the overall team competition, but we did finish in style with a commanding win for Rhys James in the last race of the day.
Congratulations to all of our runners. It was a fantastic team performance from you all! Hopefully next year, with full teams in all categories we’ll be able to regain the trophy we won last year. For the record, we finished 2nd Overall to Shipston with Princethorpe College in 3rd place.
