Another good day on the Athletics track!

Monday saw the turn of the year 7 and 8’s to compete in their Town Championships at Edmondscote track. There were some brilliant performances in the track and field. A huge congratulations to the year 8 boys who managed to regain their title by 1 point!!

The boys team were helped by excellent performances, stand out performances came from Fin Purnell winning the year boys javelin with an outstanding throw of 26.29m and Sam Enston in the 100m coming home in 1st place in a time of 12.3secs.. Another solid performance came from Will Eadon in the year 8 boys 1500m finishing in a very strong 2nd place in 5.17min. The year 8 boys 4x100m relay team (Jack Latus, Finn Doherty, Luke Padmore and Sam Enston) put on a very good performance coming home in 2nd place with some excellent baton changes.

Emily Harrison and Izzie Hannay worked hard together to secure 1st and 2nd respectively in the year 7 girls 800m which saw the girls battle against a strong field of girls and boys. The 4x100m relay team (Alice Parsons, Izzie Hannay, Darcy Christie and Maria Timms) put together a good performance coming home in 1st place in their heat.

Georgie Hurt had another strong performance on the track in the 800m winning the girls event comfortably in 2.35mins. Similarly her sister Larissa completed an excellent 1500m finishing in 3rd in the year 8 girls race. After not competing in the discuss for a whole year Jodie Rigg finished in a fantastic second place with a throw of 17.41m. Jodie Stevens powered through a high jump competition finishing in 3rd place with 1.25m after twisting her ankle whilst competing.

Stand out performances in the year 7 boys event came from Jacob May in the 100m winning the year 7 boys event in 13.6sec.

Well done everyone, you all pulled together due to some last minute changes due to injuries and illnesses, you should be very proud of yourself.
