Southam College Junior Athletics teams finish 3rd in English Schools Cup.

After an excellent afternoon competing both Southam College junior boys and girls teams finish in 3rd place in the English Schools Cup.
12The junior boys team performed well across the board, with people having to fill in due to illnesses and last minute changes. They finished the day with 224 points, finishing in 3rd place. Individual outstanding performances came from Will Eadon in the 1500m (5.09mins) and High jump (1.44m) which saw him obtain 34 points, the most points for the team. Fin Doherty had 2 solid performances again in the 200m (27.7sec)and in shot (7.83m) seeing him gaining 30points for the team. Other stand out performances for the team came from George Monaghan in the 200m (27.9sec), Benji Lindsay in the long jump (4.00m) and the boys relay team (Josh, Morgan, George I and Jacob).
The junior girls had similar performances as the boys finishing in 3rd place only 22 points behind Myton who finished in 2nd place. Individual outstanding performances came from Aoife Williams in the 800m (2.37mins) and the high jump (1.29m) which saw her obtain 39 points for the team, the most by any Southam student during the day. Maria Timms had another excellent day; this time running against year 8 students and in a new event the 200m; Maria completing the 200m in 29.6sec and anchoring the girls relay into 3rd place. Other stand out performances came from Larissa and Georgie Hurt in the 1500m finishing 1st and 2nd respectively with 5.35mins and 5.43mins.
Excellent performances all round and a well deserved 3rd place for both teams.
